The Navy and Marine Corps Medal is the second highest non-combat decoration presented by the United States Department of the Navy to members of the Navy and Marine Corps who have performed an exceedingly heroic act in a non-combat setting. This act generally involves great personal danger, in which the individual has put his/her own life at risk.
